Purpose of the course: The purpose of the course is for the student to gain the theoretical and practical knowledge required to carry out quantity take-off and cost estimation for a building, as well as time and resource planning for design and production. In the course, students further develop their ability to find their way in English technical terminology. Goal of the course: The goal of the course is for the student to be able to carry out quantity take-off, cost estimation and time and resource planning using both a traditional and a BIM model-based process. The approved student has knowledge of - Quantity take-off and cost estimation for construction projects - Activity-based and location-based scheduling (Gantt charts and Flowline) and how they are used - Quantity take-off and cost estimation from BIM models - Time and resource planning with BIM models The approved student has the skills to - Carry out quantity take-off, cost estimation and time and resource planning using object-based software - Analyze and visualize quantities - Link logical location and activity dependencies - Manage quantities and costs - Carry out assembly simulations - Create a manual quantity take-off according to the traditional process - Create a tender estimate in a construction project - Create a production estimate in a construction project - Create and use reports The approved student has the competence to - Understand and describe the differences and similarities between activity-based scheduling and location-based scheduling - Compare and evaluate design changes in a BIM model - Account for any differences in cost and time
