Course Järnväg20 Electrical engineering.

The purpose of the course is to give the student knowledge of electrical theory, electrical measurements and calculations. The focus is on overhead contact line installations and systems for distributing electric power to the various parts of the track. Students also learn about the technology of power supply installations, for example frequency converter and power converter stations. The goal of the course is that the student will have knowledge of electrical engineering from a railway perspective and of the technical design of electrical installations. After the course the student should be able to plan the operation and maintenance of the railway's electric power systems. The approved student has knowledge of - Electrical theory and the concepts of current, resistance, energy and power - Electrical measurements and calculations - Electric train operation and the railway's power supply - The railway's electrical systems with regard to new construction, maintenance and reconstruction - Work environment and safety in the track environment - Maintenance technology for railway installations The approved student has the skills to - assimilate the content of maintenance instructions and technical provisions and regulations - plan operation and maintenance activities The approved student has the competence to - ensure that safety regulations for electrical work are followed
