After completing the programme, the student should have knowledge of/in - Knowledge of anaesthesia and pharmacology. - Knowledge and an overview of the statutes that regulate dental care. - Knowledge of the anatomy of the oral cavity and teeth, odontology and oral health. - Knowledge of materials, the environment and the handling of hazardous waste at a dental clinic. - Knowledge of the operations, organisation and administration of a dental clinic. - Knowledge of assisting during dental treatments. - Specialised knowledge of infection control and communicable disease prevention at a dental clinic. - Specialised knowledge of materials and instrument handling at a dental clinic. After completing the programme, the student should have the skills to - Independently and in collaboration with the dental team identify the patient's dental care needs. - Manage appointment bookings at a dental clinic. - Interpret the statutes that govern work at a dental clinic. - Carry out oral health promotion and preventive dental care. - Inform and communicate within the field of work in Swedish and English. - Solve complex problems together with the dental team. - Administer medicines at a dental clinic. After completing the programme, the student should have the competence to - Independently manage the administration of a dental clinic. - Monitor the clinic's work through appointment books. - Handle environmentally hazardous waste at a dental clinic. - Prevent the spread of infection and healthcare-associated infections. - Meet people of different backgrounds, life situations and ages at a dental clinic. - Inform patients about, and carry out, preventive dental care. - Administer and hand over medicines. - Practise infiltration anaesthesia under supervision. - Remove supragingival calculus. - Take saliva samples. - Perform oral radiology. - Carry out prophylaxis, oral hygiene checks and polishing. - Independently assist during dental treatments and propose solutions to problems. - Identify needs for further learning and professional development. - Complete assigned tasks.
