After completing the program, the student shall have knowledge of/in: Study technique and source-critical information searching The structure and function of the body Pharmaceutical knowledge, dosage forms, basic pharmaceutical concepts and medical terminology Retail economics and the importance of marketing for profitability and competitiveness Rational handling of goods in retail Work processes and quality criteria for professional secrecy and confidentiality Work processes and quality criteria for the Patient Safety Act and Lex Maria Work processes and quality criteria for current prescription regulations, pharmaceutical benefits and the Medicinal Products Act Special logistics and inventory management Specialized knowledge of sales and service Specialized knowledge of public health and of identifying the links between health, lifestyle habits, disease and medicines Specialized knowledge of drug interactions Specialized knowledge of self-care After completing the program, the student shall have the skills to: Identify when a customer should be referred to health care instead of self-care Identify and assess the customer's self-care needs Identify the customer's lifestyle and need for preventive and/or health-promoting measures Communicate with customers according to good pharmacy practice by following the industry's national ethical guidelines and in accordance with professional secrecy and confidentiality at pharmacies Communicate with customers actively, empathetically and ethically based on the customer's needs Communicate with customers in English using profession-specific terminology Conduct a professional customer meeting with good service and offer caring sales in accordance with good pharmacy practice Carry out safe preparation, labeling, picking and dispensing of prescriptions Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (HLR) Plan and carry out efficient and safe work in prescription handling After completing the program, the student shall have the competence to: Independently give advice on self-care, wellness and lifestyle issues based on the customer's needs Independently meet the customer with a professional approach and by showing empathy Independently work efficiently and safely in handling goods Independently lead and take responsibility for the handling of goods at a pharmacy Independently work with the sale and registration of over-the-counter medicines Independently lead and take responsibility for self-care at a pharmacy Independently lead and take responsibility for the daily operations of a pharmacy Independently inform groups on the subject of self-care Independently take responsibility for their role in the team at a pharmacy Independently work in a project-oriented way with industry-relevant subject knowledge on a scientific basis Monitor and take responsibility for their own continued learning in the profession
