Ambulance Care Assistant.

On completing the programme, the student will have knowledge of 1. Specialised knowledge of: prehospital care management, teamwork, mentoring, cooperation with related services, prehospital medical and technical equipment, ambulance technology: radio communication, map reading and navigation, driving technique and efficient driving, logistics, vehicle checks, and the means of cooperation that connect the actors in health and medical care 2. Knowledge and an overview of adjacent professional and competence areas such as: prehospital emergency care, emergency medicine, pathology, traumatology, assessment, care and treatment, psychiatry, record keeping, caring science: care of patients and their families, infection, spread of infection and hygiene routines, disaster medicine and hazardous substances (CBRNE) 3. Knowledge of work processes and quality criteria in: the work environment and ergonomics, the laws, statutes and ordinances that govern the work, for example the Patient Data Act and the Public Access to Information and Secrecy Act, patient safety, quality work and development in prehospital areas such as SOS, the rescue services, primary care and specialist care. On completing the programme, the student will have the skills to 1. Plan, lead and carry out, and identify resources for carrying out, specialised tasks in the professional role of ambulance care assistant in: patient monitoring with medical equipment, recording vital signs, ergonomics, treating patients, their families and partners in a professional, respectful, humane and ethical way, and safety work in disasters and incidents involving hazardous substances in cooperation with other actors and organisations. 2. Solve complex problems by: observing, assessing and treating acute medical conditions and assisting the responsible ambulance nurse, handling and maintaining ambulance equipment and communication equipment, cooperating with other actors in the assignment, navigating and driving the ambulance in a safe and exemplary way with a particular focus on economical driving and environmental aspects, making sure the ambulance is roadworthy and operational, checking, disinfecting and cleaning the ambulance, using the available protective equipment, and communicating commitments and solutions in the profession in both Swedish and English. On completing the programme, the student will have the competence to 1. Independently handle, in theory and practice, ambulance technology, prehospital emergency care and the professional treatment of people in crisis in a way that leads to further learning and professional development in the role of ambulance care assistant. 2. Lead and supervise work with ambulance driving and technology, communications and daily prehospital operations, and complete assigned projects in the professional role of ambulance care assistant.
