About the course.

The purpose of the course is to give the student knowledge of what the data warehouse concept is and what it consists of, and how it connects to data analysis for strategic purposes such as decision-making and automated processes. The student will also learn how and why data is collected, stored and processed into a basis for analyses, decisions and automation processes. The goal is for the student, through theory and practical exercises, to develop specialised knowledge of how to store large amounts of historical data and make it possible to ask fast, complex questions of the data warehouse, so that analysts and decision-makers can easily retrieve and compile relevant data from it for comparisons, analyses and processes. The student will develop skills in selecting and downloading data from relevant sources; processing, validating and cleaning the data so that it becomes uniform and suitable for analysis; and writing it into the correct storage formats.
