The course gives you knowledge of data storage, data lakes, graph databases and data operations. You learn to work with the design, implementation and support of stored data to maximise its value throughout its life cycle, from creation to decommissioning. Through theory and practical exercises you develop specialised knowledge of collecting, cleaning and processing both structured and unstructured data. After the course you can assess which data storage and operations solution suits different types of data.
The purpose of the course is to give the student knowledge of data storage, data lakes, graph databases and data operations; the student will learn to work with the design, implementation and support of stored data to maximise its value throughout the life cycle, from creation or acquisition until it is discarded or disposed of. The goal is that the student, through theory and practical exercises, develops specialised knowledge of collecting, cleaning and processing structured and unstructured data in order to maximise the benefit of both simple, well-organised data and unstructured, complex digital information. The student will also learn to assess the benefit of different data storage and operations solutions based on the properties and purpose of the data. The student will develop skills in classifying and handling data based on its properties and the tools available.
