Are IT courses in Sweden taught in English?

24 of these courses record English as their teaching language, and they are listed below. The catalog records a teaching language for 583 of them, and 559 of those are Swedish.

The other 445 record no language at all, so the course page, and then the provider, is where to settle it. Among the courses that do say, Swedish is the more common teaching language.

A course title is no guide at all here, and that is the trap worth naming. Swedish IT course names are written in English: cloud, DevOps, machine learning, Power BI. The words are English because the field named itself in English, and they say nothing about the language the seminar runs in. An English speaker searching for cloud training in Sweden will find dozens of courses whose titles they understand completely and whose classrooms they may not be able to follow.

The compensation is real, though, and larger here than anywhere else in the catalog. Documentation, certification exams from the platform vendors, and most of the reading are in English regardless of who is teaching. For a working developer, a Swedish-taught course on an English-documented technology is often navigable. For a career changer starting from nothing, it is not.

What does the IT and tech category cover?

Everything from office software to systems engineering. The 1,028 courses here run from Microsoft 365 and Excel, through data analysis and Power BI, to software development, cloud, DevOps, networking and AI.

That range is why this is the biggest category in the catalog, and it means the list below mixes two quite different things. A half-day course on a spreadsheet feature and a two year developer programme are both IT and tech. Sort by duration and the two halves separate immediately.

Who teaches IT and tech in Sweden?

70 providers in this catalog run at least one IT or tech course. The largest are TUC Yrkeshögskola (498 courses), Nackademin (45) and IHM Business School (43).

Vocational colleges dominate the long end, running one to two year developer, data and IT infrastructure programmes built with employers and eligible for Swedish student finance. Independent training companies hold the short end, teaching named tools and vendor certifications in one to five days. A small number of universities list individual courses here too. Does a certificate still mean anything in a field that changes this fast?

It means the training happened, and it means when. In a field where a skill has a shelf life, the date on a verified certificate carries as much information as the subject.

A cloud certificate from 2019 and one from this year describe different knowledge, and only one of them tells an employer something current. Every credential in this catalog is issued through TRUE and can be traced back to the provider that issued it, with its date intact. Across the courses on this page, 33,766 certificates have been issued on those terms.

What it does not do is stand in for a portfolio. In development work, evidence of shipped code still outranks evidence of attendance, and a certificate is the second of those.
