Medical Technician.

After completing the programme, the student will have knowledge of: - Theoretical and practical tasks in the professional role of medical technician, including service, maintenance and user support for medical devices. - Which medical devices exist and their areas of use. - Specialised knowledge of the laws and regulations that govern medical devices. - Specialised knowledge of the operational environment (healthcare), the structure and governance of the healthcare system, basic knowledge of the various healthcare services, and hygiene, ethics and morals. - Specialised knowledge of LOU, the Public Procurement Act. - Specialised knowledge of information security and IT infrastructure relevant to the professional field. - Technical documentation in both Swedish and English. - Theoretical and practical environmental scanning and analysis, and how factors such as sustainability and new technology can affect decisions in healthcare. - Awareness of and insight into how adjacent professional and competence areas work (care, MTA units, facilities, other support functions such as purchasing and IT infrastructure). - Specialised knowledge of medical device safety (in-house manufacturing) and electrical safety. After completing the programme, the student will have the skills to: - Plan and carry out service, maintenance, calibration and repair of medical equipment. - Troubleshoot technical systems and devices methodically and logically. - Identify, describe and propose measures for risks, faults or actions needed for medical equipment. - Read, understand and prepare technical documentation in both English and Swedish, and to some extent pass it on to the end user. - Communicate in both Swedish and English, orally and in writing. - Take part in and give advice on the procurement and purchasing of new devices. - Understand and communicate about the IT infrastructure the medical equipment depends on. - Drive continuous improvement and safety work to remedy faults and prevent accidents. - Implement systematic work that follows the rules, standards and directives that apply to medical technology operations. - Independently choose and propose suitable technical solutions based on service, maintenance needs and technological development. - Choose tools for carrying out environmental scanning. After completing the programme, the student will have the competence to: - Independently handle content in the maintenance and service of medical technology so that it leads to further learning and professional development in the role of medical technician. - Supervise work activities and complete assigned projects in the role of medical technician.
