Course UX20 Accessibility.

Purpose of the course: The purpose of the course is for students to gain insight into the field of accessibility in design. Students will gain an understanding of how accessible design is necessary for some, but good for everyone. This means that students will gain insight into different users' conditions and ways of interacting with interfaces, products and services. Goal of the course: The goal of the course is that students will be able to design accessible and inclusive products that are usable by as many people as possible, regardless of ability. After the course, students should know how to apply different tools and processes to identify and meet the needs of people with disabilities. Students should also have gained an understanding, through practical implementation, of how to carry out a user test with a person with disabilities. The student has knowledge of: - The concepts of accessibility and design for all. - Laws and guidelines concerning accessibility, for example WCAG, the Web Accessibility Directive and EN 301 549. - The needs of different target groups, including older people, people unused to technology and people with disabilities. The student has the skills to: - Test interfaces with different assistive technologies such as screen readers, magnification, switches and eye tracking. - Use tools and processes that lay the foundation for accessible and inclusive products. The student has the competence to: - Make inclusive design decisions and argue why accessibility should be prioritised and become part of the development process.
