Structural Design and Calculations gives you knowledge of technical drawing, strength of materials and mechanics through a mix of theory and practical design tasks. You practice solving real design problems and learn to calculate the forces and moments that act on a structure. After the course you can present the results of your calculations and propose engineering improvements. The course is given as part of TUC's YH programs for technical design roles.
The course aims for the student to develop knowledge and understanding of technical drawing, strength of materials and mechanics. Theory is combined with practice through various design tasks, in which problem solving is a central part. The aim of the course is for the student to develop specialized knowledge to be able to calculate the forces and moments that act on a structure. After completing the course, the student has the competence to understand and present the results of calculations in mechanics and strength of materials, and to propose changes to the design based on the results in an engineering manner.

The basics of reading and producing technical drawings.
Theory and calculation methods for how materials and structures are loaded.
Calculating the forces and moments that act on a structure.
Practical exercises with problem solving at the center.
Compiling and presenting results in an engineering manner.
Proposing changes to a design based on calculation results.
The course is aimed at you who are studying a YH program in design, mechanical engineering or product development at TUC and want to deepen your knowledge of calculation and technical drawing.
When you complete the course, TUC Yrkeshögskola issues your certificate. Your name, the course content and the issue date are encrypted and secured on blockchain, so it cannot be changed, and anyone can check that it is genuine.
