Bias in assessment: course certificate Training on bias (partiality) in assessment processes and how it can be avoided. Bias describes systematic distortion that disadvantages certain groups. An academic career often builds on collaborations and being included in research projects, rather than on individual merits alone. Success depends to a large extent on being identified, assessed and recruited by others. The certificate is awarded to those who have completed the following: The course consists of four different modules covering what bias is, how it arises in an assessment process, and aspects outside the assessment process that also affect assessments, including a test of personal bias. The first three modules end with a short test, a "quiz", to remind you of what you have read in the module. Finally, module four lists tools that can be used in the work to counteract bias. Both assessment in appointments and resource allocation are covered in the course. The training takes 1-2 hours to complete.
When you complete the course, KI - Karolinska Institutet issues your certificate. Your name, the course content and the issue date are encrypted and secured on blockchain, so it cannot be changed, and anyone can check that it is genuine.
