Solar Energy, 15 YH credits, gives you knowledge of different applications for using solar energy and how the energy yield of a specific installation is calculated. You learn to identify factors that affect irradiation and electricity and heat production, and to explain solar thermal and photovoltaic applications. The course includes calculating the performance of a grid-connected solar power installation including the effect of shading, as well as the capacity of a solar thermal installation.

Duration: 3 weeks
Language: Swedish
Level: Intermediate
CSN-eligible

Time commitment: 15 YH credits, equivalent to approx. 3 weeks of full-time study

About the course.

The purpose of the course is to provide knowledge of different applications for using solar energy and how to calculate the energy yield of a specific installation. Students should be able to identify different factors that affect irradiation and electricity and heat production, and explain how solar thermal and photovoltaic applications can be used. During the course, the performance of a grid-connected solar power installation is calculated, including the effect of shading, and the capacity of a solar thermal installation is also calculated. The goal of the course is to give students knowledge of the sun as an energy resource, solar cell technology and solar thermal applications.
