Optics and product knowledge, 30 YH credits, gives you basic knowledge of optics and its effect on the final product, as well as of lens materials, frames, record keeping and documentation. You train skills in measuring and assessing spectacles and lenses using different instruments, ahead of your future role as an optician assistant with a clinical focus. After the course you can give the consumer qualified guidance, in both Swedish and English, when buying personally adapted optical aids.

The purpose of the course is to give students an understanding of the relationship between the eye and the lens. The goal of the course is to give students knowledge of optics and industry-specific products. Students should also be given knowledge of different lens types and lens materials, base curves, coatings etc. so that they can give the customer qualified recommendations when choosing lenses and frames.
