Learning at Work 1 (LIA) is workplace-based training where you practise the work of a specialist assistant nurse in care of older people. Based on the content of the theoretical courses, you get the chance to reflect on and analyse the work, and to encounter organisational development, supervision and ethical issues. You also practise interpreting symptoms of common geriatric conditions and dementia, and recognising the need for symptom relief at the end of life.
In the first LIA course, students test their theoretical knowledge in a practical context and bring their experiences back into a developing dialogue about practice and theory. In this first LIA course, the focus is on the basic factors and methods of social pedagogy work. Students get the opportunity to reflect on documented experiences at the LIA placement and relate them to the content of the courses they have completed.
