The course gives you knowledge of the cornerstones of purchasing: procurement, operational purchasing, category management and Supplier Relationship Management, and how they relate to each other and to Supply Chain Management as a whole. You gain an understanding of the organisation's need for goods and services and how the supply structure affects the company's results. The course discusses the historical emergence of the purchasing field and the basic principles of Supply Chain Management. After the course you can explain the role of the purchasing function and analyse the maturity level of a supply structure.
