Course description MODULE 1: Current situation - how is the company performing today? The learning focuses on understanding, describing and analysing a company's business model and how it generates profitability and customer value. What characterises the organisation, and what distinguishes it from others? What makes it more or less successful? The aim is to develop the ability to produce a situational analysis of a company's business model and current performance. MODULE 2: The gap between the current and the target performance - what is the company's business challenge? The learning focuses on how the company evaluates and chooses future business opportunities to improve its performance and shape its business model. Changes in the business and social environment imply that a company with many products and business areas must repeatedly assess which should be prioritised, retained or phased out. The learning also includes understanding what a management team can do to steer the organisation towards high performance. MODULE 3: Business decision-making The learning focuses on business decision-making, independently and in a group. The individual work involves analysing the current situation and the performance of the student's chosen company. The group work consists of running a company simulation in a dynamic and changeable business environment where results must be interpreted and the strategy reviewed in each period. The learning includes defining a business strategy and measuring and monitoring progress with various indicators and market and results reports. Scope: The course covers approximately 400 hours, of which about 100 hours are teacher-led. The remainder includes time for private study (recommended time or more) and examinations.
